Metals & Care

14K Solid Gold

14K solid gold is 58.3% gold and 41.7% other metals. Because of this, 14K yellow gold has a more muted yellow tone. The mixture of other metals with the gold makes it more durable and affordable—a win win!

14K solid gold does not tarnish, is waterproof, and won't turn your skin green if worn in water. 14K solid gold is a great heirloom metal that can be passed down for generations.

Care

To clean solid gold jewelry, use a toothbrush, mild soap (we like Dawn dish soap), and warm water. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth to bring its shine back to life.

Stone Information

Mined Diamonds

Mined diamonds, as the name suggests come straight from this Earth. All mined diamonds sold in the US go are Kimberley Process certified which "guarantees" the diamond did not fund rebel groups, terrorism, etc. This process has many loopholes and does not certify anything about labor practices.

In recent years Known Origin diamonds have become popular as you can track the stone from mine to market to market. You're able to reasearch the mine yourself to identify whether it fits within your personal values.

Mining is not kind to our environment in many ways and this shold be considered when opting for a mined diamond.

Lab Diamonds

Laboratory Grown Diamonds have the exact same chemical makeup as mined diamonds the only difference is where they were created. Think of it as a carrot grown in a greenhouse vs your backyard. Same outcome - a carrot!

Lab diamonds come at a fraction of the price and don't come with the environmental impacts of mined diamonds, but they do have ethical considerations of their own. Growing a lab diamond takes a considerable about of power since we're creating something new not digging for something old. In addition there has yet to be great transparency about the conditions of stone cutting in the lab diamond industry.

Moissanite

Moissanite, though white and sparkly like diamonds is a completely different stone. It has a different chemical makeup and is actually considered more sparkly than a diamond as it has a higher refractive index.

Natural moissanite is extremely rare. The largest known moissanite to be found was only 4.1mm - tiny! 99.9% of moissanite sold is laboratory grown just like lab diamonds.

Which stone should you choose?

That, is up to you. There are pros and cons of any stone. Consider your values, wants, and budget.

One thing to note is if you want a champagne diamond those only come in mined not lab.
