Metals
Gold Fill
Gold fill is a thick layer of 14K gold bonded to a core of high-quality jewelers brass. Between the bonding method and thick layer of gold surrounding the core, gold fill makes for jewelry that is tarnish-resistant, has long-lasting color, and can be worn in water without turning skin green.
Our gold fill jewelry is nickel-free and hypoallergenic.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals. The mixture of metals and pure silver makes sterling silver more durable. However, the downside is that sterling silver tarnishes with time. Tarnishing is the process of oxidation. Over time, sterling silver jewelry will change to a lovely dark silver color, often called a patina.
Sterling silver is waterproof. Our sterling silver jewelry is nickel-free and hypoallergenic.
14K Solid Gold
14K solid gold is 58.3% gold and 41.7% other metals. Because of this, 14K yellow gold has a more muted yellow tone. The mixture of other metals with the gold makes it more durable and affordable—a win win!
14K solid gold does not tarnish, is waterproof, and won't turn your skin green if worn in water. 14K solid gold is a great heirloom metal that can be passed down for generations.
Jewelry Care
Gold Fill
To clean gold fill jewelry, use a toothbrush, mild soap (we like Dawn dish soap), and warm water. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth to bring its shine back to life.
Sterling Silver
To clean sterling silver jewelry, use a toothbrush, mild soap (we like Dawn dish soap), and warm water. You can also use a silver cleaning paste or polishing cloth, both of which can be found online, to bring its shine back.
Since this metal naturally tarnishes when exposed to air (it turns a darker silver color), store sterling silver jewelry in an airtight container, baggie, or jewelry box to slow the tarnishing process.
14K Solid Gold
To clean solid gold jewelry, use a toothbrush, mild soap (we like Dawn dish soap), and warm water. You can also use a jewelry polishing cloth to bring its shine back to life.
